Sadly, it has finally become time to part ways with our wonderful and beautiful yacht Auriga.
While we have had a great adventure, life has moved on and now we wish to find her a new loving owner who will realise their adventure.
The asking price is £10,000, or nearest offer. If you are interested, please email Matthewscott706@gmail.com and Giuliatyzack@gmail.com
Auriga has shown us some of the best times and it will be with a very heavy heart that we must look the other way as she is sold, but changing lives have made it finally necessary.
Auriga will be a fantastic bargain for any future dreamer or adventurer who wants to take her on the next stage of her life.
This is a yacht that has carried 3 budget student sailors on an Atlantic adventure and she is waiting to do so again. She has been modified for blue water cruising and all the functional and key sailing components are in good order. She is ready to sail away today, and if we weren't selling we would have no delay setting out for another season on the South Coast.
It is inescapable fact that she is rough round the edges. She will need a lick of paint and varnish one day. I think she will of course want a bit of TLC before you move in and set off across the Atlantic yourself.
For much more on our stories and adventure, and to see photos of where Auriga has taken us, please see the rest of our blog. For example:
- Particularly - the following is a video tour from 2014 showing more about our modifications
- This page features a video of Auriga under sail
- And finally, to encourage you to daydream about starting a voyage to the Caribbean
Photos of Auriga, ashore in Portsmouth
A new Beta 14 engine was installed in 2014, currently only 500 hours.
The spacious forward cabain, including storage for an 80L water tank and safety equipment (parachute sea anchor, 2 storm jibs, series drougue, and towing warp)
Forward, a reinforced waterproof bulkhead, including strong point for an inner forestay.
Starboard side storage locker in the forward cabin - at sea storage for larger items
Portside waterproof locker
Fibreglass reinforcement of all bulkheads to provide structural reinforcement
At the rear a monitor windvane and gas locker.
A deck tripod and wind generator is also installed, although unfortunately corrosion means repairs will be required.
Galley, including Neptune 2000 cooker, and both fresh and seawater tap.
Interior, including pilot berth (mostly used for storage) and comfy secure sea berths:
The Lavac heads were installed new in 2013. Located centrally and providing a comfortable seat in big seas and on either tack - highly important for any offshore passage making!
Deep cockpit and spacious lockers. The Port locker holds the tender, 6 head-sails and a spare main. The starboard locker holds spares and deck gear, with fenders and warps in the stern.
Skeg-hung rudder and fully glassed in keel (no keel bolts). Complete sand-down and re-epoxy was carried out in 2017. She is currently ashore, waiting for a fresh coat of anti-foul for the season ahead.
